The United Run for the Zoo is one of Chicago's oldest running events, attracting children and adult athletes of all levels of ability to compete in a myriad of athletic events.
Proceeds benefit the Lincoln Park Zoo, the oldest zoo in the country and one of the last free public institutions in America.

The start line is located on Stockton Drive between Webster and Dickens for Runs and Walk.

The Chronotrack Disposable Chip comes attached to a plastic strip that is already adhered to your bib #. No need to wait until race day to pick up your chip - it's already on your bib when you go to a Pre-Registration/Packet Pick-Up event!
The chip tag should be peeled from the bib on race day and attached to your shoelaces - adhesive tabs and your shoelaces keep the tag in place. You must cross the special mats at the start and finish lines in order for your time to be recorded.
After crossing the finish line, the tag is yours to dispose of or to keep as a souvenir of your experience at the United Run for the Zoo.

The popular The Hawk Hustle will start near the Landmark Cafe in the Zoo. Kids will be broken down into heats by age and gender.
Age - Distance
4 and under - 50 yards
5 & 6 - 100 yards
7 & 8 - 220 yards (1/8 Mile)
9 & 10 - 440 yards (1/4 Mile)
Participation is free and every participant will receive a ribbon. T-shirt cost: $10. An entry form must be filled out for each participant!

Race day packet pick-up will take place at Lincoln Park Zoo (near the Gateway Pavillion) starting at 6:30a.m. Please arrive early to assure proper and accurate service.

The overall male and female winners will receive awards immediately following the races. Age-division winners can receive their awards via mail or email.

5K Course: Start on Stockton Drive between Webster and Dickens, head south to just before LaSalle Dr where participants will dip into Chicago Park District paths, head east towards Cannon Dr, then north and west to the south service entrance of the Zoo, north/west through zoo, west past Conservatory, back to Stockton, north on Stockton Drive to Cannon Drive, southeast to Lake Shore Drive West where the 5K Run will access the gravel path and will continue to the finish line on the east side of the Zoo.
10K Run: The 10K Run will start on the course as the 5K, but will continue north on Lake Shore Drive West, east on Diversey and enter paths at Diversey Harbor. The 10K race then goes north along the paths past Belmont Harbor, cross Belmont Harbor Drive, cross Recreation Drive, north to turnaround near Waveland Clock Tower on the bike path, south on back to bike path, cross Belmont Harbor Drive, south on bike paths back to gravel path to the combined 5K/10K finish line on the east side of the Zoo.
5K Fun Walk: The 5K Walk starts with the 5K run and follows the same course until it crosses Fullerton. Walk course then follows parallel with run course along Stockton, but on park path, just east of Stockton. Course then heads east along path that is south of Alexander Hamilton Monument, crosses Cannon Dr (heading east), then runs south to join up with park path that is just east of Diversey Harbor. Course then heads south along path, under Fullerton underpass and ends at the same finish line as the 5K and 10K courses.

Parking is limited. Paid parking is available in the zoo's parking lot on Cannon Drive (be sure to arrive early). $12 pre-paid parking tickets are available when you sign up online.
