Chicago's most popular summer weekday running event is on the move in 2010! After nearly three decades of being held on Thursday evenings in the West Loop, Chicago's 29th annual Bastille Day 5K Run, Walk & Block Party is relocating to Lincoln Park on a Wednesday night.
The event celebrates the French national holiday (officially July 14). Following the run/walk, participants can enjoy a block party with food, refreshments and can can dancers at the nearby Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. (Admission to the block party only is $5.) Proceeds will again benefit Chicago's Mercy Home for Boys & Girls.

This year's event features the latest in timing technology: The Chronotrack Disposable Chip! The computer chip comes attached to a plastic strip that is already adhered to your bib #. No need to wait until race day to pick up your chip - it's already on your bib when you go to a Pre-Registration/Packet Pick-Up event!
The chip tag should be peeled from the bib on race day and attached to your shoelaces - adhesive tabs and your shoelaces keep the tag in place. You must cross the special mats at the start and finish lines in order for your time to be recorded.
After crossing the finish line, the tag is your's to dispose of or to keep as a souvenir of your experience at the Bastille Day 5K Run & Walk.
Download this document instructions on how to attach the tag to your shoes on race day.
